#14 Without A Care In The World

Hey there,

This one is about the boy who lived and let live.

He lived without a care in the world. He wasn’t happy, he wasn’t sad either. Whenever we asked him how he was, he nonchalantly replied, “Content.”

We assumed he visited the infamous grass-land from time to time but he didn’t - we had concluded our investigation with a lack of evidence.

We were alike in many ways but there was something about him that made you feel at peace. You wanted him to be around more. For starters, you could be yourself and there wouldn’t be an ounce of judgement. It was that simple. He. Made. You. Feel. Comfortable.

I remember the first time we hung out. He had cordially invited me for a drive. “We might have similar tastes but our vibes are very different man,” I hesitated. “ Relax, all we’ve got to do is focus on the similarities.” That’s all it took for us to become inseparable. We bonded on music, hobbies and goals in life, it was like finding a twin. What amazed me was he could have that with anyone he met.

He didn’t have a soul that disliked him. It was odd, yet so desirable. To be in a position where you don’t have enemies was a powerful one. He didn’t do it for an ulterior motive though… that was just him. We got involved in all sorts of class politics and drama (I bet everyone has been a part of it once, if not for anything but someone else wooing your crush). But him, he was aloof to everything that attracted negative energies.

He was the ideal guy and I wanted to be more like him. Cribbing about others at school, I asked him one day, “Why are people like this man?” He never replied to that question. Instead, he sneakily changed the topic and focused on the positives around.

There come a day when I understood his secret. We were ‘jamming’ some tunes in the car and I asked him his favorite song (your favorite song really gives an idea about what kind of a person you are). He pulled out a CD and gave it to me. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that day or that song.

It was ‘Let It Be’ by the Beatles. Let it be. It showed me how fickle life was. That’s all you’ve got to do. Let it be.
